What is MNP Service?

The portability of mobile numbers is applied across the globe in various ways. The international and European standard is for a customer who wants to port their number to contact the new network (recipient). Which then transfers the application for number portability (NPR) to the existing network (donor). This is regarded as porting done by the receiver.

The United Kingdom and India are the only exceptions to the donor-led scheme. To obtain (PAC) in the UK and Unique Porting Code (UPC) in India, which is then issued to the recipient network, the customer who wishes to port his / her number is required to contact the donor. By providing the donor with a porting key, the recipient completes the porting process.

MNP Service in Bangladesh

Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) introduced the MNP facility on September 30, 2018, for all mobile operators. All mobile operators are ready to provide this service to all of their customers.

How to Move from One Operator to Another in Bangladesh?

A user has to pay 50 BDT with a 15% value-added tax (VAT) for getting MNP service. This process normally will take 72 hours. On the off chance that a customer is in a hurry and wants to move within 24 hours, in that case, 100 BDT will be required to quicken the process. In any circumstance, a user has to visit the new operator’s customer care center.

If a customer wants to change the operator once more, he/she has to wait for a minimum (90 days) 3 months for the activation of the migration.
