Some Explanations of Laylatul Qadr
Why the night is called the night of power has a wonderful explanation from the scholars. According to few Islamic scholars, Allah (SWT) dictates in the holy Quran: إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ [Source: (An Nur: 45)] that means “Surely, Allah is over everything skillful”. This shows the strength of Allah. Here the Word Qadir (قَدِيرٌ) alludes to Almighty. Qadr is established from a similar word. From this source, a group of the Islamic scholars opine, the word Qadr implies Power. So, Laylatul Qadr means The Night of Power.
In the Holy Quran, there are some verses where the word Qadr alludes to declaration. A definitive destiny of every single living soul is Death. Allah (SWT) says in Surah Al-Waqi’s 60th vesre (نَحْنُ قَدَّرْنَا بَيْنَكُمُ الْمَوْتَ) that alludes: “We have announced passing among you”. in the verse, the word (قَدَّرْنَا ) Qadirun alludes to have proclaimed. So, Laylatul Qadr is the Night of Declaration according to some scholars.
In another place in Quran, Allah the Exalted declares (إِنَّا أَنْزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةٍ مُبَارَكَةٍ) where He reveals that the holy book Quran has uncovered in Laylatul Qadr first. In the third verse of Surah Ad-Dukhan Allah (SWT) says, “In reality, We sent it down during a favored night”. Here, the night is termed as “blessed” one. That is why, another group of Islamic scholars name the night as the night of blessed night.
The Islamic scholars discovered another identity of the night from Sura Al Qadr. The sura itself is loaded with the word Qadr. In the Sura, where Allah (SWT) says, “And what can make you realize what is the Night of Decree?” This Ayah alludes to the majesty of the night. Some Islamic researcher gives a conclusion that the verses are an exclamatory sentence which depicts the excellence and enormity of the night.
