Gayle and Perera Helped Riders to Win against Dynamites

Rangpur Riders beat mighty Dhaka Dynamites for the 24th match of the season 5 of BPL by 3 runs. Thisara Perera helped the riders for the clinical win against the defending champion.

Though the match was virtually out of the Riders, they successfully came back to the match. It was the crucial point of the game when Dhaka Dynamites needed 16 runs from 18 fair deliveries with 4 wickets in hand. But a brilliant spell was waiting for the Riders as well as for the supporters. The match was backing to Rangpur Riders when Rubel Hossain came to bowl. He conceded just 3 runs and picked up the in-form batsman Mehedi Maruf.

Then, the scenario was for sensational Lasith Malinga. However, he was also like Rubel Hossain for his last over of the innings. But, something was still waiting for them. Here, for the final over, the scenario of the match was changing with every single delivery till the last.

Just 10 runs were needed from the last over. Kieron Pollard, the devastating Caribbean, was in the strike. He got chances for the single but wished to win by hitting boundaries himself. He was capable of hitting a six, but that was not enough. Thisara Perera bowled him in the fifth delivery and then nailed for the last.

Earlier in the match, Dhaka Dynamites won the toss and opted to ball. But the decision was not happier enough as they conceded 36 runs before Brandon McCullum leaving the crease. The giant hitter, Chris Gayle smashed the orthodox spinners and scored his successive half-centuries for the tournament.

Mohammad Mithun (22), Mashrafee Murtoza (15), Robi Bopara (12) and Thisara Perera (15) helped the Riders for a below par score.

In response to 143 runs, the starting was not good enough for Dhaka Dynamites. They lost crucial wickets at the crucial time. The highest scorer for the previous match, Sunil Narine, went to the pavilion with a big golden duck.

Then, Evin Lewis and Jahurul Islam built the innings steadily, but there was Shohag Gazi. He picked up Evin Lewis for his first over of the innings. Another in-form batsman, Jahurul Islam followed Lewis being bowled by Murtoza.

Then, Mehedi Maruf and Shahid Afridi had some big hits but not enough to touch the winning line. The sorrow fact for the Dynamites as well as the number-1 all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is that his first five-wicket hauls went in vain.

Chris Gayle was the man of the match for his fifty. Rangpur Riders played 6 matches in the tournament till the date having the same number of wins and losses.
