Renowned writer, columnist and intellectual Farhad Mazhar was reportedly abducted by unknown miscreants early Monday.
Police said journalist quoting his wife Farida Akter that just after he got a phone call, he went out of his Adabar house around 5:07 am and half an hour later he called her and said, “Save me, they have kidnapped me. They are going to kill me”. Now his mobile phone is switched off.
Around 9:30 am in the morning, his wife got a phone call from the unknown miscreants asking for Tk35 lakh ransom.
Police visited his house and checked the CCTV footage that shows nothing more than normal. Then in connection with the incident, a general diary was filed with Adabor Police Station.
Police don’t know kidnapers whereabouts yet and assistant sub-inspector Md. Sujan said declined to share any information for the sake of arresting the kidnappers.
Police are trying to trace his phone to find the location, said Senior officials of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (Tejgaon Division).
