Al last, Comilla Victorians has become the table topper for the first time in BPL 2017. Today, for the 21st match of the franchise tournament, Comilla Victorians won a thrilling match against mighty Dhaka Dynamites by 4 wickets with 2 balls to spare.
Beginning the match with the weird decision of Shakib Al Hasan, Veteran captain of the defending champions, nobody expected the coruscation of the game. The inform all-rounder, Shahid Afridi was absent from the match.
However, Dhaka Dynamites opted to bat by winning the toss. Their start was mind-blowing though the opener Evin Lewis went to the pavilion in the very beginning of the game. Mehedi Maruf, another devastating batsman, also did nothing remarkable for the team by getting out from a successive delivery of Hasan Ali.
Then, Sunil Narine, the unorthodox opener made a zodi with living legend Kumar Sangakkara. The pair made a partnership with 92 runs. The partnership was broken through the run out of Kumar Sangakkara.
Sunil Narine scored his tournament-best 76 runs from just 45 balls which helped the team to have a below-par score. After leaving for Sangakkara, the famous batting line-up of Dhaka Dynamites collapsed for only 24 runs for 7 wickets. No other batsman except Narine and Sangakkara scored a two-digit run.
Hasan Ali, the number 1 bowler of one-day international cricket, bagged 5 wickets for only 20 runs but to fulfill his quota overs.
In response, Comilla Victorians fell into the trap after losing the openers in just 23 runs. Though Tamim was devastating the veteran spinner, Sunil Narine, Tamim defeated him after scoring 18 runs from 9 balls. Then Imrul Kayes and Shoaib Malik steadily made the partnership which was not enough to finish the line.
Shoaib Malik then tried with Joss Butler and Darren Bravo. But the later duo got out soon. However, Shoaib Malik scored his first half-century to touch the winning line.
Hasan Ali was no doubt the man the match for his first five wickets hauls in a t20 cricket.
Comilla Victorians stepped up to the top place of the point table by replacing Dhaka Dynamites.
